EARLYSVILLE, Va. - Wake Forest's Connor Crowley and Alexander finished in 45th and 61st, respectively, to lead the Demon Deacons to a 17th place finish at the NCAA Regionals on Friday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.

Crowley, a junior, finished the 10k course in 30:29.7, while Rose, a senior, finished shortly after with a time of 30:45.1

Freshmen Jacob Poyner was third on the team and 94th overall to finish in 31:14.7. His teammates, senior Kyle Graves and freshmen Simon Holden were right behind him finishing with times of 31:50.3 and 31:49.4

"Our goal was to race in the top 10, and when you look at the split we were right alongside the competition, we just faded in the second half," said distance coach Brad Hunt. "This squad is young, we will not have any of the guys graduating this year and we are looking forward to the ability for us to grow the program."

Wake Forest finished with 487 points achieving a 17th place finish out of 35 teams.

UNC-Greensboro's Paul Chelimo captured the men's title in 28.37.3. The team title was captured by Eastern Kentucky with a final score of 58. Both Eastern Kentucky and Virginia will advance to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23.

With cross country season now complete, the Demon Deacons look forward to the start of indoor track season with a home meet on Dec. 7.
