WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Travis McKie dominated on the defensive end by tying career-highs with five blocks and four steals, and Coron Williams hit a game-high four 3-pointers, as Wake Forest defeated The Citadel 82-54 on Thursday night at the Joel Coliseum.

The Demon Deacons remain undefeated on the season at 5-0, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-4.

In addition to his impressive performance on defense, McKie was also one of three Deacons in double figures with 10 points and added six rebounds and four assists. Williams led Wake Forest with 12 points, and Devin Thomas ended with 11.

Williams' four 3-pointers now give him 14 over his last three games. He is the first Demon Deacon to make at least 14 3-pointers over a three-game stretch since Justin Gray made 15 over three games in 2005-06.

Wake Forest did a nice job protecting the basketball on the night with just seven turnovers. The Deacs also forced 16 Citadel turnovers and outscored the Bulldogs on the fastbreak 16-0.

The Demon Deacons shot just 36.4 percent from the field in the first half and held a four-point lead before Tyler Cavanaugh hit a three at the buzzer to give Wake Forest a 34-27 lead at the break. The Deacs then dominated the Bulldogs in the second half, outscoring The Citadel 48-27 after halftime and shooting 51.6 percent in the second 20 minutes.

Wake Forest was excellent from beyond the arc all night, hitting a season-high nine threes and shooting a season-best 50.0 percent (9-for-18) from deep. Williams was 4-for-6 from 3-point range, and Miles Overton shot 2-for-5. Cavanaugh, Codi Miller-McIntyre and Madison Jones all hit one 3-pointer, as well.

Miller-McIntyre dished out a career-high eight assists and scored nine points for the Deacs. He and Jones combined for 13 assists in the game, including a combined 11 in the second half alone.

The Demon Deacons gradually built their lead throughout the second half and led 55-42 with 10:16 to play. Williams then hit three 3-pointers over a 2:03 span to push the lead over 20 points at 65-44 with 7:53 remaining.

That stretch was just the beginning of a 20-5 run for the Demon Deacons. To go along with Williams' trio of triples, Aaron Rountree III had six points, including an alley-oop dunk from Jones, while Andre Washington hit three free throws and Arnaud William Adala Moto made a layup. Washington capped the run with two free throws and gave the Deacs a 75-47 advantage with 4:16 to go.

Wake Forest will be off for a week before taking on No. 2-ranked Kansas on Thanksgiving Day in the Bahamas at the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Deacs will face either USC or Villanova in the second round the following day before playing one of Iowa, Tennessee, UTEP and Xavier in the third round on November 30.
