
Wake Forest Falters Against No. 19 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Wake Forest volleyball came up short on Friday night, falling to No. 19 Florida State 3-0 (12-25, 16-25, 20-25) in ACC play.
Wake Forest (15-14, 4-13 ACC) was led by Jazmen Russell who had nine kills while Florida State (21-7, 14-3 ACC) was led by Nicole Walch who had 11 kills.
Kristin Grissom chipped in eight kills for the Demon Deacons while Sophia Dodd had 19 assists and Megan Miller had a team-high 10 digs.
Florida State took a 12-5 lead in the first set and finished the frame by winning 25-12.
The second set started out with each team trading points. A service error from Florida State put the Demon Deacons up 8-7 but the Seminoles rattled off four-straight points to lead 12-8. Dodd broke the 5-0 run with a kill but the `Noles outpaced the Demon Deacons, taking the second set 25-16 and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Wake Forest opened up the third set by taking a 6-4 lead after a kill from Jazmen Russell. The Seminoles came back to tie the set at 6-6 before pulling ahead. With Florida State leading 14-11, Wake Forest tied the set after an attack error from the `Noles and back-to-back kills from Grissom and Dodd. Florida State though closed out the set, outscoring the Deacs 10-5 to take the set 25-20 and win the match 3-0.
The Demon Deacons will take on Miami on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Coral Gables, Fla. in the last road match of the regular season
