Wake Forest will look to defend its Triad turf when it hosts I-40 rival UNCG on Saturday afternoon, as the Demon Deacons wrap up their home non-conference schedule.
Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the LJVM Coliseum. The game will be broadcast online on ESPN3 and can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest is coming off a 77-62 comeback win over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday. The Deacons rallied back from their second-straight double-digit second-half deficit against an A-10 team to earn the win.
The Deacons trailed by 10 points early in the second half but chipped away at the margin. With the Bonnies leading 51-50 with 11:00 to play, Wake Forest rattled off eight straight points to take control. Coron Williams capped the quick run with back-to-back 3-pointers.
The 8-0 spurt began a 25-7 run that saw the Deacons lead by 17 with less than two minutes to play.
Codi Miller-McIntyre led Wake Forest with 20 points, his seventh 20-point performance of the season.
Devin Thomas battled a stomach bug to score 18 points, while Travis McKie had 16 points on the night. The two combined for 27 points in the second half alone.
The Deacons had nine turnovers at halftime but settled down to commit just six in the second half and finish with 15 for the game.
Wake Forest Storylines
Wake Forest has won nine straight games at the Joel Coliseum, dating back to last year's season finale. It marks the Deacs' longest home winning streak since winning nine straight at the Joel between 2008 and 2009.
Codi Miller-McIntyre is one of three players to rank in the top 10 in the ACC in both scoring and assists. Miller-McIntyre is ninth in scoring (18.1) and seventh in assists (4.4), joining Notre Dame's Jerian Grant and UNC's Marcus Paige in the top 10 on both lists.
Coron Williams is the only player in the ACC who has played more than 250 minutes with less than seven turnovers this season. Williams has just two turnovers in 273 minutes on the year.
Series History
The Deacons have won all seven previous meetings with the Spartans, including an 84-70 win in Greensboro last season.
The first four meetings came during the 1990s, beginning with the 1991-92 season when the Spartans played their first-ever Division I contest against the Deacons.
The teams are meeting for the fourth time in the past five seasons.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will be off for the holidays before traveling to Xavier on Saturday, Dec. 28, to meet the Musketeers in the fourth annual Skip Prosser Classic. Wake Forest has won two of three meetings in the event, which was named in honor of the late head coach of both schools.
The Deacons open conference play on Sunday, Jan. 5, against in-state rival North Carolina. Wake Forest and UNC will meet in primetime for the 8 p.m. ESPNU game.
