Three Deacs Advance to Semifinals at NCAA East Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. -Wake Forest track and field began competition in the NCAA East Regional First Rounds on Thursday with events continuing through Saturday evening.
Sean Lunkenheimer will head to the semifinal round of the 400m hurdles on Friday night after posting a time of 52.14 seconds on Thursday. Kyle Graves also qualified for the semifinals as he will compete in the 1500m race on Saturday after crossing the line at 3:44.22.
Thomas Bojanowski posted a time of 1:49.66 in the 800m which puts him in the semifinals on Friday night as well.
The top 12 athletes from the regional meet advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 5-8.
Men's Discus
Steve Michaelsen finished with a mark of 47.15m (154-8) in the discus on Friday finishing 42nd overall.
Men's 400m Hurdles
Lunkenheimer qualified for the semifinal round of the 400m on Friday night by posting a career-best time of 52.14 seconds and finishing 24th. His previous best was 52.20 which ranked third all-time at Wake Forest while his best this season was 52.39 seconds. The semifinals are at 7:45 p.m. on Friday evening.
Men's 1500m
Graves finished 22nd and qualified for the semifinals on Saturday in the 1500m. He recorded a time of 3:44.22 which is a career best and ranks third all-time at Wake Forest. Alexander Rose finished with a time of 3:52.36.
Men's 800m
Bojanowski qualified for the 800m semifinals on Friday night by posting a time of 1:49.66 and finishing 14th. That time is a career-best for Bojanowski and ranks fourth best all-time at Wake Forest. The semifinal round takes place at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
Women's 10000m
Nicole Irving finished with a time of 34:23.75 which ranks seventh all-time on the Wake Forest performance list. She narrowly missed a trip to the NCAA Championships as she finished in 16th place.
Competition continues on Friday for Wake Forest with men's javelin, men's 800m, women's pole vault, women's high jump and the men's 400m hurdles all in action.
