Wake Forest Heads to Four Last Chance Meets

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A select group of members from the Wake Forest track & field teams will compete in four meets this weekend in an attempt to either qualify for or improve upon their current marks for the NCAA First Round East Regional Meet.
Wake Forest will represent at the Roanoke Twilight Qualifier on Thursday while others will head to the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Three student-athletes will run at the Wolfpack Last Chance Meet on Friday while several will compete at the UVA Challenge on Saturday as well.
Each meet serves as one of four last-chance NCAA First Round East Regional qualifiers that the Demon Deacons will take part in this weekend. The top 48 declared athletes in each region per event qualify for the NCAA First Round Meets, which will take place May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C. The top 12 athletes from each region then advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 5-8.
Final regional rankings and qualifying marks will not be released until later next week, following the conclusion of all last-chance qualifying meets.
Roanoke Twilight Qualifier - Roanoke, Va.
The meet held at Roanoke College will feature several athletes in running events on Thursday. Thomas Bojanowki, Kyle Graves and Michael McEnany are scheduled for the 800m which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Bojanowski sits at 31 in the East Region for the 800m while Graves is ranked 51.
Sean Lunkenheimer competes in the 400m and will look to continue his strong performances in the event. Alexander Rose is competing to qualify in the 1500m for the NCAA East Regional on Thursday.
Kaitlyn Oliver and Samantha Jones will each run the 1500m on the women's side on Thursday night to round out the meet for the Demon Deacons.
Georgia Tech Invitational - Atlanta, Ga.
Ben Lincoln and Patrick Donelan will compete in the javelin throw on Friday night at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Lincoln is currently in second in the East Region with a mark of 75.36m set at the Wake Forest Invitational while Patrick Donelan is at 32 in the region.
Steve Michaelsen will compete in the discus on Saturday for the Deacs. On the women's side, Katie Adair is scheduled for the pole vault while Nyki Caldwell is in the high jump. Erin Brooks will compete in both the long jump and triple jump in the meet.
Wolfpack Last Chance Meet - Raleigh, N.C.
McEnany and Bojanowski will run in the 800m on Friday at the Wolfpack Last Chance Meet in Raleigh. Lunkenheimer is slated for the 400m hurdles as well.
UVA Challenge - Charlottesville, Va.
Graves and Rose are both in the 1500m while Rose will also run in the 5000m. Nicole Irving, Jones and Oliver will all race the 5000m to round out the meet on Saturday.
