WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - With Liberty leading 2-1 in the waning minutes of the second half on Friday, Anna Kozniuk scored twice less than a minute apart to help No. 18 Wake Forest (4-1) defeat the Flames 3-2 at Kentner Stadium.
Kozniuk was granted a penalty stroke at 67:17 of the second half and buried it in the cage for the tying goal. She then scored off a corner from Holly Brown and Taylor Rhea to put the Demon Deacons ahead with 1:38 left in the game.
Wake Forest got on the board first 3:10 into the game with an unassisted goal from Kari Walkley who scored her fourth of the season.
Liberty made it a 1-1 game at 13:55 of the first half when Hannah Jones scored off a corner to even the score.
Coming out of halftime, each team had chances until Liberty scored late off a goal from Ashlee Krulock who converted a pass from Natalie Barr for the go-ahead tally.
Kozniuk then drew the penalty stroke four minutes later and scored the game-winner with under two minutes left.
Valerie Dahmen made three saves in the game including a highlight reel stop in the second half from Bethany Barr.
Ann Jefferis made six saves for Liberty (2-2).
Wake Forest hosts William & Mary on Sunday at Kentner Stadium with the game beginning at noon.
