WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Romain Bogaerts earned the highest singles ranking for a Demon Deacon since 2007, coming in at No. 5 in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings, which were released today.
Also appearing in the preseason rankings was senior Adam Lee, who was ranked No. 83. Bogaerts and Lee are ranked No. 53 together in doubles.
Bogaerts, a transfer from Mississippi State, earned ITA National Rookie of the Year and All-America honors last year, finishing at No. 11 in the ITA Singles Rankings after reaching as high as No. 6 earlier in the season.
He is the highest-ranked Demon Deacon since 2007 when Todd Paul reached No. 1 on the ITA singles charts.
Lee set a Wake Forest record for singles wins in a season last year, going 38-8 while playing primarily at the No. 4 position, including a 9-1 record in ACC play. He climbed as high as No. 105 in the ITA Singles Rankings.
Wake Forest will start fall tournament play on Sept. 13 when it sends representatives to the Duke Fab Four Invitational in Durham, N.C. and the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
