Asch and Fernandez Reach NCTC Doubles Final

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Wake Forest freshmen Samantha Asch and Luisa Fernandez advanced to the double final of the prestigious National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Saturday.
Asch and Fernandez beat San Diego's Mikayla Morkel-Brink and Marta Stojanovic 6-2 in the quarterfinals and then received a walkover in the semifinals to book a spot in the final.
Fernandez impressed in singles action as well, beating Pepperdine's Christine Maddox 6-3, 7-6 (4) before smoking USC's Kaitlyn Christian 6-0, 6-0.
Play in the tournament will wrap up Sunday. The Deacons open dual match play on Monday with a home doubleheader against College of Charleston and UNCG.
