
Demon Deacons to Host No. 70 Missouri

Wake Forest Faces First Ranked Test in #70 Missouri
- Off to its best start since 2009, the Wake Forest women's tennis team will take on its first ranked opponent of the season in No. 70 Missouri on Sunday at noon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
- The Demon Deacons shut out Appalachian State (9-0) and Charlotte (7-0) last weekend to get the season off to a 4-0 start.
Top Storylines
- Wake Forest didn't drop a set in its wins over Appalachian State and College of Charleston. Four Deacons are perfect in dual match singles play this year: Andrea Retolaza Andrade, Kimmy Guerin, Luisa Fernandez and Xue Zhang.
- The Demon Deacons have started the season 4-0 for the first time since 2009. The 2009 team was the last Wake Forest squad to earn a berth in the NCAA Championship.
- In all four of the Demon Deacons' matches so far, the top six singles and top three doubles spots in their lineup have consisted of three freshmen and three sophomores.
- Wake Forest played against Missouri in a "hidden-dual" format during a fall tournament and the Tigers took four of the six singles matches. However, the Demon Deacons were without the services of Samantha Asch and Kasey Gardiner.
- The Tigers started the season with wins over Saint Louis and SIU-Edwardsville before dropping both of their matches at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend to Harvard and Louisville.
- Samantha Asch and Luisa Fernandez hold an 11-1 record together in doubles this season and are a perfect 4-0 in dual match play.
