Wake Forest will hit the road for the first of back-to-back road games this week when the Demon Deacons invade Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers on Wednesday evening.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena. The game will be broadcast on the ACC's regional sports partners and online on ESPN3. It can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest is coming off a 73-67 win over No. 19-ranked North Carolina on Sunday in Winston-Salem.
The Deacons used an 11-0 run over a three-minute span in the second half to push its lead to 53-40 with 10 minutes to play. UNC closed to within 64-61, but the Deacons got a huge three-point play from Travis McKie with just over a minute to play to seal the win.
Wake Forest went just 19-for-33 (58 percent) at the line in the game, but the Deacons made them when it counted most by going 7-for-8 at the line in the final 1:03 of the game.
McKie scored a game-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Codi Miller-McIntyre finished with 12 points and four assists.
Arnaud William Adala Moto had one of his best games of the season as he finished with 11 points and nine rebounds, one-off his career-high. Tyler Cavanaugh also had 11 points as he went 9-of-11 at the free throw line.
Devin Thomas was limited to just eight minutes in the first half but came up big in the second half. He finished with nine points, nine rebounds and four assists on the night.
Wake Forest Storylines
Wake Forest has limited each of its past five opponents to below 40 percent shooting from the field. The Deacons won four of those five games.
The Deacons feature the ACC's leading rebounder in Devin Thomas, who pulls down 9.3 boards per game. Wake Forest is 9-0 in games this year when Thomas leads the team in rebounding.
Wake Forest will play four of its next five games on the road beginning Wednesday.
Senior Travis McKie is 15 points away from 1,500 for his career. The leading active career scorer in the ACC, McKie would be the 20th Deacon to reach the mark.
Series History
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Virginia, 70-60. The Deacons have won seven of their past eight games with the Cavaliers, including a 55-52 victory in Winston-Salem last season.
Wake Forest fell 68-44 in its last trip to Charlottesville in 2012. UVa's win that night snapped a six-game losing streak to the Deacons.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will play at Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jan. 11, at noon. The Deacons will be facing the Panthers for the first time ever on Saturday.
The Deacons will remain on the road after the Virginia game, traveling up to Pittsburgh via bus on Thursday. The team will then fly home to Winston-Salem following Saturday's game at Pittsburgh.
Wake Forest returns to the Joel Coliseum on Wednesday, Jan. 15, to host rival NC State at 9 p.m.
