Samantha Jones Named ACC Performer of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest junior Samantha Jones was named the ACC Performer of the Week after winning the Royals Challenge in Charlotte, N.C. last Saturday.
Jones finished the 5k course at McAlpine Creek Park in 17:20.6, leading the Demon Deacons to their third team win of the fall. She crossed the finish line just ahead of teammate Kathleen Darling who took second in 17:23.1.
For Jones, it was her third individual victory of the season after winning the Covered Bridge Open (Aug. 29) and the Furman Classic (Sept. 13).
Jones is the first Wake Forest women's runner to earn ACC Performer of the Week honors since Nicole Irving in 2011.
The Deacons return to action at on Friday at the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C. Wake Forest will then have a weekend off before competing at the ACC Championships on Halloween morning in Earlysville, Va.
