
Wake Forest Falls to Boston College 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Wake Forest volleyball team fell in four sets to the Boston College Eagles 3-1 on Friday night at Power Gym. Jazmen Russell led the way with a match-high 20 kills, but the Deacs were unable to pull out the victory.
The Demon Deacons fall to 12-8 overall and 2-4 in the ACC with the loss and the Eagles improve to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Boston College started strong out of the gate taking an 8-5 lead to begin the first set. The Deacs made a run of their own to take their first lead of the match 15-13, forcing the Eagles to call a timeout. The host then went on a 7-2 run to take a 20-17 lead and Wake Forest called a timeout. Boston College then closed out the set 25-22 and took a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set started with a back and forth affair with the teams tied 11-11 in the middle of the set. Wake Forest then created a 14-11 advantage forcing Boston College to call a timeout. The Eagles regained the lead at 17-16 and then 20-19, but a 6-2 run by the Demon Deacons tied the match at 1-1 as they won the second set 25-22 heading into intermission.
The Eagles jumped out to a quick 6-3 lead to begin the third set, but the Deacs came right back and tied it up 7-7. Boston College was then forced to call a timeout when Wake Forest jumped out to a 19-15 lead. The Eagles would make a comeback to defeat the Deacons 26-24 in the third.
In the final set, Wake Forest took a 6-4 lead, but Boston College regained the lead 9-8. A 9-4 run created a 18-12 cushion for the host, forcing the Deacs to call a timeout. Despite clawing their way back into the set, Wake Forest wouldn't recover from the deficit as the Eagles won the fourth set 25-21 to win the match 3-1.
NOTES:
Russell recorded double-digit kills for the ninth consecutive match as she had 20 today.
The loss snaps the Demon Deacons' two-game winning streak against Boston College.
It was the seventh time this season that Russell had 20-plus kills in a match.
Caroline Wolf recorded 20 or more digs for the seventh match this season, and her third in the last four matches.
As a team, Wake Forest recorded 50 or more kills in a match for the 11th time this season.
