DURHAM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team fell to the No. 21-ranked Duke Blue Devils 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 17-25) in a Halloween ACC matchup inside Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday evening.

With the loss, the Deacs move to 12-12 overall and 2-8 in the ACC, while Duke improves to 17-4 overall and 9-1 in conference play with the win.

Jazmen Russell led the way with a double-double, recording 14 kills and 14 digs for the match. Brianna Lynch recorded six kills and two total blocks, including one solo block. Matalee Reed added five kills and three block assists.

Wake Forest started off the match well with a 6-3 run capped off by Russell's first kill of the match. Duke responded with a 7-0 run to take a 10-6 lead forcing the Deacons to call a timeout. The Deacs would come back to tie the set 11-11 and 12-12, but the Blue Devils forced Wake Forest to call another timeout with Duke pulling out to a 21-17 lead. The Blue Devils closed out the set with a 4-1 run to win 25-18 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set started with a Blue Devils 9-5 run and Wake Forest called a timeout. The Deacs went on a 6-2 run to tie the set 11-11 capped off by another kill by Russell. Duke then had to call two timeouts with the Deacs leading 17-14 and 20-16. The ranked-Blue Devils roared back with a 9-3 run to come back and take the second set 25-23.

In the third set, Duke jumped out to a commanding 8-2 lead. The Blue Devils then extended its lead to double-digits 22-11 in the set. Wake Forest cut into the lead with a 5-2 run to make it 23-16, but Duke got the final two points to win the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

NOTES:
Jazmen Russell continues her stellar play as she recorded double-digit kills for the 13th consecutive match with xx today.
• Russell recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs, the sixth time she has done so this season and first time since she recorded 23 kills and 10 digs in a 3-2 victory over NC State on Oct. 3.
Brianna Lynch had the second highest hitting percentage in the match between both teams hitting .429 against Duke.

UP NEXT:
• Wake Forest returns home to Reynolds Gym for a four-match home stand over the next two weekends. Next weekend features matchups against Georgia Tech on Friday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m., and against Pittsburgh on Saturday, Nov. 8, also at 6:30 p.m.
