WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team topped Notre Dame in five sets on Friday in ACC action at Reynolds Gym. The Deacons trailed 8-7 in the fifth set but finished the match with an 8-3 run to win set five 15-11.

The win pushed Wake Forest over .500 with a 14-13 overall record. It is the fourth ACC win of the season for the Demon Deacons. The Irish drop to 6-19 overall and 3-11 in ACC play.

Jazmen Russell had a match-high 25 kills while Matalee Reed put up 16 kills and eight blocks while hitting .387 in the contest. Kylie Long posted her fourth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 15 digs.

After Wake Forest battled back to tie the first set 24-24, Notre Dame scored the final three points of the frame to win 27-25. The teams traded sets two and three to reach a must-win fourth set for the Demon Deacons.

Sam Fry put down a kill to bring up match point for the Irish, 26-25, late in the fourth set. Fry then went back to the service line but came up short with an error which tied the game 26-26. Reed and Danae Rosendall picked up a big block and Long had a kill to score the final two points of the set and secure the 28-26 win for Wake Forest.

Notre Dame led early in the fifth set, 8-7 as the team switch sides. The Demon Deacons took back the lead, 11-10, on a Notre Dame attack error. With Wake Forest ahead 13-11, Russell put down a kill and Reed followed with an ace to take the final set 15-11.

NOTES:
Jazmen Russell recorded double-digit kills for the 16th consecutive match with 25 against Notre Dame.
Kylie Long recorded her fourth career double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs in the win.
• Wake Forest is 5-3 in five-set matches this season.
Matalee Reed hit .387 for the match with her best attack percentage coming in the fourth set when she hit .778.

UP NEXT:
• Wake Forest will host Louisville on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
• The Demon Deacons will honor Danae Rosendall, Ashlee Rusk, and Jazmen Russell for their outstanding contributions to the volleyball program.
