BLACKSBURG, VA. - The Wake Forest volleyball team fell to the Virginia Tech Hokies 3-0 on Friday night in ACC action at Cassell Coliseum. Jazmen Russell and Kylie Long led the way for the Deacons with nine kills each and Hanna Lee added another six.

In the first set, Wake Forest called their first timeout of the match trailing 11-6 after a point by the Hokies. A 4-2 run cut Virginia Tech's lead to 13-10, but a 3-0 run by the Hokies gave them a 16-10 lead and a six point advantage. The hosts went on to close out the set with a 25-18 win to take a 1-0 lead in the set.

The second set was a close battle throughout. It was tied early in the set as both teams were deadlocked at 7-7. Wake Forest had to call the first timeout of the set when the Hokies took a 17-15 lead midway through the second. After Virgina Tech surged out to a 20-15 lead, the Deacs came back with a 7-1 run, which included kills from Long and Lee, to take a 22-21 lead. The score would tie up two more times at 24-24 and 26-26, but a 2-0 run at the end of the set gave the Hokies a 28-26 set victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the final set, Virginia Tech jumped out to an early 10-4 lead to create an early cushion. The Deacs brought the set back to two points with a 7-3 run to make it 13-11. The Deacons tied the match 20-20 late on, but a 5-0 run by the Hokies sealed the 25-20 set victory and they completed their 3-0 sweep of Wake Forest.

NOTES:
Jazmen Russell's double-digit kill match streak ended at 17. She recorded nine kills tonight against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Kylie Long was tied for first on the team in kills with nine kills.
• Wake Forest is on the road for the final three matches of the season.
