WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Despite a late Wake Forest run, hot shooting and strong play from Delaware State proved to be the difference as the Demon Deacons fell to the Hornets 72-65 inside the LJVM Coliseum on Friday night.

The Demon Deacons (4-3) were led by Codi Miller-McIntyre, who scored 15 points. Cornelius Hudson and Madison Jones also recorded double-digit points with 10 each.

The Hornets (3-3) used a strong shooting performance of 49.1 percent from the field to earn them the victory. Amere May led the way for Delaware State with a game-high 32 points on 50 percent shooting. Kendall Gray also contributed to a huge part of the Hornets' success as he recorded a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds, also blocking eight shots.

With the Hornets trailing 27-24 with 8:46 left in the first half, a 14-9 run for Wake Forest, which included four points each from Mitchell Wilbekin and Miller-McIntyre and a thunderous dunk from Aaron Rountree, gave the Deacons a 38-36 lead at the half.

The Hornets came out of the half strong with a 20-11 run to take a 56-50 lead with 11:10 remaining. After trailing 61-54, the Deacons created defensive stops and an 8-2 run to bring them within one, trailing 63-62 with 1:25 remaining. The Hornets responded with a 9-3 run to close out the game and earn the victory.

Wilbekin, Konstantinos Mitoglou and Rountree each added nine points for the Demon Deacons. Devin Thomas recorded a team-high seven rebounds for Wake Forest.

NOTES
• Delaware State hit the boards against the Deacs as they won the rebound battle 38-34.
• The Hornets also had a slight advantage on points in the paint, 30-26.
• Wake Forest struggled from the field shooting 35.6 percent, including 26.9 percent in the second half.
• Miller-McIntyre recorded a double-digit scoring performace for the second consecutive game with 15 tonight.

• Wake Forest will hit the court again on Tuesday, December 2, as they welcome Minnesota to the LJVM Coliseum for a 7 p.m. game that will be broadcast on ESPNU as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
