The Deacons caught fire early in the first half, exploding for an 11-0 run to take a 15-7 lead midway through the period. The Deacs used their speed and proclivity for running to their advantage, scoring eight of those 15 points on the fast break.

Despite a six-minute scoreless stretch, the Terrapins rallied back, retaking the lead in the final minutes of the half thanks to an 8-0 run. Nick Faust drilled a 3-pointer with a few seconds remaining in the period to send Maryland into the locker room with a 30-25 lead.

The Deacons made their first five field goals of the second half to cut the Maryland advantage to 36-35 on a layup by Miller-McIntyre, but the Terrapins immediately responded with an 8-0 run sparked by two 3-pointers to take their biggest lead at 44-35.

The Deacons made a run at the Terrapins as time ran down, cutting the advantage to 56-50 with 4:31 left, but Maryland scored the next four points to restore the lead to double figures.
