WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team's 2014 recruiting class was ranked as the 19th-best in the country by the Tennis Recruiting Network, marking the third year in a row that the Demon Deacons have ranked in the Top 25.
Head coach Jeff Wyshner has Courtney Meredith (Birmingham, Ala.) and Sara Swift (Vero Beach, Fla.) signed to join the Demon Deacons next fall.
A five-star recruit, Meredith is ranked as the top player from her class from the state of Alabama and in the top 25 nationally. While attending high school in Florida, she won the 2013 Florida 1A State Singles Championship and earned Player of the Year awards from the Miami Herald and the Sun-Sentinel.
Swift has played the No. 1 position for three years at the Saint Edward's School in Vero Beach, Fla. and was the state runner up as an individual in 2012. She was named the 2012 and 2013 Scripps Treasure Coast Player of the Year.
Wake Forest's freshman class this season was ranked as the eighth-best in the country while its 2012 class was ranked 25th nationally. The Demon Deacons' lineup this year consists entirely of players from those two classes, who have helped lead the Deacs to a 5-0 start for the first time since 2004.
