Wake Forest falls to Virginia, 7-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Wake Forest fought hard early in doubles play, but No. 5 Virginia pulled away in singles to defeat the Demon Deacons 7-0 on Sunday.
The Deacons forced tiebreakers at the second and third positions in doubles after Jon Ho and Pedro Dumont fell to Alex Domijan and Harrison Richmond of Virginia (19-2, 90 ACC) by a score of 8-1.
At the second spot, Adam Lee and Anthony Delcore fought back to tie their doubles match against Mac Styslinger and Luca Corinteli of the Cavaliers at 7-7. Lee and Delcore fell behind early in the deciding tiebreaker and dropped the match 8-7(2), and Virginia clinched the doubles point.
Romain Bogaerts and Maksim Kan picked up Wake Forest's lone victory of the day by defeating Thai Son-Kwiatkowski and Mitchell Frank of Virginia by a score of 8-7(5). The doubles point had already been decided when Bogaerts and Kan took the match.
In singles, Wake Forest (14-10, 3-6 ACC) dropped first sets on all six courts and couldn't recover against the Cavaliers' powerful lineup. At the second position, senior Deacon Lee fell to Frank of the Cavaliers by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Dumont, playing on Court 6, fell to Justin Shane, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman star Kan played Ryan Shane of Virginia well in his second set, but dropped the overall match by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Playing at the top of the lineup, Bogaerts was defeated by Domijan of the Cavaliers by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Aws Laaribi, playing in the first ACC match of his career, fell to J.C. Aragone of the Cavaliers, 6-3, 6-3.
Jon Ho lasted longest on court in his match against Son-Kwiatkowski at the fourth spot, but fell by a score of 6-4, 6-3 after the overall match had already been decided.
