WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Romain Bogaerts has been selected to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship, which will begin on May 21 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
Bogaerts, who is ranked No. 28 nationally in singles, will be playing in the tournament for the second time. As a freshman at Mississippi State last season he was seeded fifth overall but was upset in the opening round.
The native of Belgium has led the Demon Deacons at the No. 1 singles position all season defeating 10 nationally ranked opponents, including a win over second-ranked Guillermo Alcorta of Oklahoma in March.
Bogaerts will be Wake Forest's first representative in the 64-player tournament since 2010 when Steven Forman and Tripper Carleton both made the field.
The draw for the NCAA Singles Championship will be released the day before the start of competition.
