RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's golf team was 3-under par midway through the first round of the NCAA Raleigh Regional on Thursday when rain forced suspension of the round. The round will be restarted at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The Demon Deacons have finished between 11 and 14 holes and are currently in a tie for fourth with Texas Tech and Texas A&M at 3-under par. Georgia Tech has run out to an early lead at 14-under while Washington is second at 10-under par. Both of those teams are nearly finished with their first rounds.

Freshman Clancy Waugh has taking advantage of his length and has birdied all three par-5s he's played and is 2-under par through 11 holes. Senior Thomas Birdsey is 1-under par after a pair of birdies and just one bogey through 10 holes.

Junior Cyrus Stewart had an unfortunate break which led to a triple-bogey on No. 3 but he has fought back with five birdies and is also at 1-under par through 14 holes.

Freshman Danny Guise has finished 12 holes, posting five pars, four bogeys and three birdies. He is 1-over and currently tied for 40th. Sophomore Davis Womble made 10 pars in his first 11 holes but is now 5-over through 14 holes.

The top-5 teams at the end of play on Saturday will earn a trip to the NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
