JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kyle Graves and Alexander Rose wrapped up the NCAA East Regional for Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon with a pair of solid performances at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
After advancing to the semifinals of the 1,500m run on Thursday, Graves placed 20th overall on Saturday with a time of 3:48.31. While he did not advance to the NCAA National Championships, the mid-distance star ended his season with nine top-10 individual finishes across three different events and earned All-ACC honors in the 800m run after a third-place finish at the ACC Outdoor Championships in April.
Rose, competing in the 5,000m run for only the third time this season, took 35th place and crossed the line in 14:52.87 to close out his season. The Brisbane, Australia, native racked up three top-10 finishes in the 1,500m run and one in the 5,000m run during the 2014 outdoor season.
Jessie Merckle (javelin throw) and Sydney White (pole vault) will represent the Demon Deacons at the NCAA National Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The women's javelin throw is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, while the women's pole vault will take place at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, June 13. It will mark the first time that Wake Forest has fielded multiple female representatives at the meet since 2009.
