WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest All-American Chris Paul was named to the All-NBA First Team on Wednesday.
Paul earned his fourth career, and third-straight, first team selection and his sixth overall All-NBA nod in nine seasons in the league. He was the lone ACC alum to be named All-NBA for the 2013-14 campaign.
Paul led the NBA in assists (10.7 apg) and steals (2.48 spg), while averaging 19.1 points and 4.3 rebounds as the Clippers won a franchise-record 57 games. Paul became the seventh player in NBA history to top the 6,000-assist plateau before the end of his ninth season. He's only the fourth player in NBA history to reach 6,000 assists before his 29th birthday, joining Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas and John Stockton.
Paul led the Clippers to the Western Conference semifinals before falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games.
Another Wake Forest legend, Tim Duncan, just missed making the All-NBA teams. Duncan, who has been named All-NBA 14 times in his career, earned one first-team vote and finished third among players who fell shy of making the third team.
Duncan opens the 2014 NBA Finals tonight as the San Antonio Spurs square off against the two-time defending champion Miami Heat.
