WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest men's soccer player and current Seattle Sounder Sean Okoli, will play in the Chipotle MLS Homegrown game on Monday, August 4 in Portland, Ore.
The Homegrown team, made up of promising young players in the MLS, will face the Portland Timbers U-23 team at Providence Park in Portland. The game is part of the MLS All-Star Week in the lead up to the All-Star Game on Wednesday night.
Okoli is in his rookie season for the Sounders and has played in two matches. He recorded an assist in a friendly against Tottenham of the English Premier League in July.
"I'm excited to get the game in, and I'm excited to meet the home-grown players that I don't know already," Okoli told the News Tribune. "It's going to be good seeing them. It's going to be a good experience."
Former Wake Forest star Michael Parkhurst was named to the MLS All-Star team and will face Bayern Munich in the All-Star Game on Wednesday.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app at 10 p.m. EST.
