WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's 2014-15 regular season schedule was released by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Tuesday. The Demon Deacons will play 30 games this season with 17 of those contests being played at home.
Wake Forest will open the season with four-straight games at home. The season-opener is on Saturday, Nov. 15, against Longwood at 2 p.m. That will be followed by games against Tennessee Tech, Marquette and Coppin State.
A trip to the Cancun Challenge will highlight the early part of the schedule. The Deacons will take on three very tough opponents over the Thanksgiving holiday starting with Princeton on Nov. 27. The second game at the Challenge will be against Charlotte and the final game on Saturday, Nov. 29, will be against Montana. The Deacons won the FIU Sun & Fun Classic last year for their first tournament victory since 2008.
Wake Forest is back in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge this year and will head to Ann Arbor, Mich., to take on Michigan on Dec. 3. The last trip to Ann Arbor wasn't a good one for the Deacs as they fell 91-58 in 2010.
Arizona makes the trip to Winston-Salem on Dec. 7 to complete a home-and-home series. Wake knocked-off the Wildcats in Arizona last season. That is followed by a trip to Richmond on Dec. 14. That will be Wake's first game in Richmond since 2009.
The Deacons will have four home games to wrap-up the non-conference portion of the schedule as well as 2014. Wake hosts Towson on Dec. 18 and Missouri on Dec. 20 before breaking for Christmas. After the holiday, the team hosts American on Dec. 28 and then has a New Year's Eve tilt with Western Carolina. The Western Carolina game is part of a double-header with the Wake Forest men's team.
ACC play starts after the calendar turns as the Deacons head on the road to face Duke on Jan. 4 and Virginia on Jan. 8. Wake will also make road trips to ACC-foes Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Notre Dame, NC State and North Carolina.
The Deacons' first home game in ACC play will also be the first-ever meeting with Louisville. That game is schedule for Sunday, Jan. 11. NC State, Clemson, Duke, Boston College, Pitt, Miami and Georgia Tech will also make trips to Winston-Salem this season.
The ACC Women's Basketball Tournament will again take place at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro on March 4-8.
Wake Forest will be featured on TV three times during the regular season with the first coming at Virginia Tech on Friday, Jan. 23. The game will aired on the Regional Sports Networks. The Deacons will host Clemson on RSN on Jan. 29 and then will play at Notre Dame three days later on RSN on Feb. 1.
