INCHEON, South Korea - Wake Forest men's golf alumni were instrumental in Team USA's 15.5-14.5 victory over the International Team in the 2015 Presidents Cup at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course of Korea. In the final group on the course, Bill Haas clinched the victory for the Americans, who were captained by his father, Jay.
It was the sixth consecutive victory for the United States in the biannual competition between the top players from America and the top players from the rest of the world, minus Europe.
Bill Haas (Class of 2004), who was a captain's pick for the team, was in the final pairing of Sunday's singles play. He won the 18th hole to secure a 2-Up victory over local favorite Sangmoon Bae of South Korea and clinch the championship for Team USA.
Haas finished the tournament with a 1-1 record. In addition to his singles victory, he also suffered a 2-and-1 loss with Chris Kirk during Friday's four-ball competition.
Jay Haas (Class of 1976) led the Americans to the championship during his debut as captain of the squad.
