Deacons Travel North for Princeton Inter-Regional

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams will open the month of October by heading north to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Inter-Regional Meet Saturday morning.
The men will start the day in an 8K race at 10:45 a.m. and the women will run at 11:30 a.m. in a 6K race. It will take place at the Princeton West Windsor Fields.
Host Princeton, Columbia, Duke, Duquesne, Indiana, Monmouth, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and William & Mary will join the Demon Deacons at the event. The Providence men's squad and the women's teams from St. John's and Villanova will also run.
Both the men's and women's races will feature ranked schools. On the men's side, No. 19 Indiana, No. 24 Providence and No. 29 North Carolina are featured in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Coaches' Poll. The women's race will include four top-30 squads in No. 18 William & Mary, No. 21 North Carolina, No. 25 Villanova and No. 29 Princeton.
The trip to Princeton will be Wake Forest's first.
Both Wake Forest cross country teams competed last weekend at the Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Va. The Demon Deacon women finished eighth as a team, led by Samantha Jones' second-straight fourth-place effort. Alex Giacco was Wake Forest's top men's finisher, placing 52nd as the Deacs came in 12th as a team.
