Wake Forest Posts Third-place Finish in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's cross country team took third place as a team at the Royals Cross Country Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. Friday afternoon. A total of 39 teams and 345 runners competed in the 8K race.
With a final team score of 76, the Deacons were 17 points off Campbell's winning total and nine points off Mount Olive's second place score. They topped host and fourth-place school, Queens, by 94 points.
Leading the Demon Deacons was Evan Little, who finished ninth with a time of 24:32.1. Simon Holden and Alex Giacco also earned top-15 finishes, placing 11th and 13th, respectively.
Little registered his third top-20 finish of the season and was Wake Forest's first finisher for the first time on the year.
Rounding out the Demon Deacons' scoring seven were Sebastian Fischbach in 22nd, Ryan Horgan in 32nd, Connor Buck in 34th and Nicholas Raefski in 46th. As a team, the Deacs average a 24:58.22 time for the race.
Before beginning postseason competition with the ACC Championships on Oct. 30, Wake Forest will host the Wake Forest Invitational at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex/Cross Country Course in Kernersville, N.C. next Friday afternoon.
