Wake Forest Wraps Up Virginia Tech Challenge

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the Rector Field House. It was the last opportunity for the Deacons to compete on the track that will host the 2015 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Between the men's and women's teams, Wake Forest had a first-place finisher and had three others earn top-five finishes.
For the men, John Maurins led the way with a second-place finish in the shot put. Max Adams also had a top-five finish finishing in fourth and set a new personal record in the shot put. In addition, Steve Michaelson and Rusty Provins also competed in the shot put and earned fifth and sixth place finishes respectively.
Leading the way for the women, Nyki Cladwell finished in first place in the high jump. Sydney White competed in the pole vault and Emily Campbell in the shot put. Both earned top-five finishes finishing in fourth place. Both White and Campbell tied their personal bests with their results.
The Deacons will return to Rector Field House next weekend Feb. 26-28 to compete in the 2015 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
