Wake Forest Falls to No. 45 Georgia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Luisa Fernandez took her match to a third-set tiebreaker, but Wake Forest fell to No. 45 Georgia Tech on Friday by a score of 7-0 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Fernandez, playing Kendal Woodard at the third position, dropped the first set but came back to take the second set by a score of 6-4. In the deciding 10-point point tiebreaker played instead of a third set, Woodard proved to be too much for the Wake Forest sophomore. Woodard prevailed by a score of 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(10-6).
Freshman Courtney Meredith also pushed her match long for Wake Forest (12-8, 2-6 ACC), facing Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer of Georgia Tech (7-6, 4-3 ACC). But Meredith eventually fell by a score of 7-5, 4-6 on court four.
The Yellow Jackets got an early lead, taking the doubles point with wins at the first and third positions. Andrea Retolaza and Zhang fell to Woodard and Hourigan, ranked No. 22 nationally, by a score of 8-2, while Fernandez and Forman lost 8-2 to McAdoo and Renaud.
Gardiner and Guerin's match at the second position was left unfinished, but they led Prokopuik and Natasha Prokhnevska of Georgia Tech, 6-4.
