BATON ROUGE, La. - Senior Allison Emrey climbed in to the top 10 with a 2-under 70 in Saturday's second round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. Wake Forest moved up to ninth in the team standings.
Emrey fired a 2-under 70 on Saturday and cracked the top 10 of the individual standings. She is tied for ninth with TCU's Kortnie Maxoutopolis and LSU's Carolina Nistrup at 2-over for the weekend. Emrey is just six strokes back of the leader with 18 holes to play on Sunday.
As a team, the Demon Deacons showed a 20 stroke improvement from Friday's opening round with a 297 on Saturday. Wake Forest entered the round in 13th place and climbed up four spots to ninth by the end of Saturday. There are just 10 strokes separating ninth and fifth place, giving Wake Forest plenty of space to move up on Sunday.
"Today was a better round than yesterday," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "We are looking forward to a strong finish tomorrow."
