CLEMSON, S.C. - Wake Forest scored a pair of late runs, but it was not enough to rally past Clemson, as the Tigers salvaged the series finale with a 6-2 win at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Clemson (13-13, 5-7 ACC) found the holes all afternoon, as seven of its nine hits were either infield singles or snuck right past Wake Forest (19-11, 6-6 ACC) infielders.

Connor Johnstone (1-2) took the tough-luck loss, after allowing three runs on five hits without a walk over 5.0 innings. He was out-dueled by Clemson's Zack Erwin (2-3), who allowed two runs in 8.0 innings with seven strikeouts.

Stuart Fairchild extended his hitting streak to 12 games by going 1-for-1 with a walk, hit by pitch and sacrifice fly, while Nate Mondou was the only Deacon to post a multi-hit game, also scoring a run.

Will Craig added an RBI single in the eighth inning for Wake Forest.

Eli White led the way for Clemson, going 2-for-3 with a three-run homer. Andrew Cox also added a pair of hits and RBIs.

Wake Forest returns home for a Tuesday afternoon contest against Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m.
