Will Craig Honored as ACC Player of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Will Craig was named the ACC Player of the Year on Monday afternoon, one of four Demon Deacons to receive an All-ACC honor.
Craig becomes the sixth Deacon to earn Player of the Year honors, and the first to do so since Jamie D'Antona received the honor in 2003.
He was joined on the All-ACC First Team by teammates Nate Mondou and Stuart Fairchild. Wake Forest was one of just three programs to have a tleast three First Team honorees.
Fairchild was also selected to the All-Freshman team, along with fellow newcomer Justin Yurchak.
Wake Forest also places at least three on the All-ACC First Team for the first time since 2003, when D'Antona, Adam Bourassa, Ryan Johnson and Kyle Sleeth received the recognition.
Craig wrapped up 2015 near the top of almost every offensive category, including a .382 batting average, 13 home runs and 58 runs batted in.
Mondou also ranked among ACC and national leaders on offense. He hit .338 with 10 homers and 57 RBIs, leading the team with 75 hits, most for a Deacon since J.B. Tucker had 79 in 2005.
Fairchild put together one of the best rookie campaigns in Wake Forest history. All-time among freshmen, he ranks tied for fourth in hits (68) and stolen bases (12), ninth in doubles (14), and 10th in batting average (.349). He becomes just the third Wake Forest freshman to receive first team honors, the first since Bill Merrifield in 1982.
Yurchak finished second on the team with 30 walks, hitting .313 to go along with five homers, 33 RBIs and a .424 on-base percentage.
