COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Wake Forest women's soccer team opened the 2015 campaign by shutting out Ohio State, 1-0, in an exhibition game at Jesse Owens Stadium on Saturday night.
The Demon Deacons received a late goal from senior Katie Dry, as she scored in the 78th minute off a through ball from junior Sarah Teegarden.
In addition to that goal, Wake Forest earned the victory with stifling defense. The Demon Deacons didn't allow a shot on goal, and conceded just four total shots.
A total of 25 Demon Deacons saw game action, with Lindsay Preston, Nonie Frishette and Taylor Kerxton combining for the shutout in goal.
Sophomore Pilar Torres and freshman Lizzy Kinkler also added shots on goal for Wake Forest.
Junior Kendall Fischlein and sophomore Ally Haran were the only Deacs to play the full 90 minutes.
Wake Forest doubled up the Buckeyes in corner kicks, 6-3.
The Demon Deacons open the regular season on Aug. 23, playing host to SEC foe Georgia in a 4 p.m. game.
