GREENSBORO, N.C - Wake Forest men's golf head coach Jerry Haas and three Demon Deacon alumni will be in action at this week's stop on the PGA Tour, the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club. Haas will be joined by Bill Haas, Kyle Reifers and Webb Simpson in the tournament field.
Coach Haas qualified to play in the Wyndham Championship by winning last year's Carolinas PGA Professional Section Championship.
Bill Haas (Class of 2004), Jerry's nephew, is currently 23rd in the FedEx Cup Standings. The 2011 FexEd Cup Champion won the Humana Challenge in January in La Quinta, Calif., his sixth career PGA Tour victory.
Simpson (Class of 2008), the 2011 champion of the Wyndham Championship, is currently 49th in the FedEx Cup Standings. He has won four times during his PGA Tour career, including the 2012 U.S. Open.
Reifers (Class of 2006) is currently 84th in the FedEx Cup Standings. He is coming off a runner-up finish two weeks ago at the Barracuda Championship in Reno, Nev.
The Wake Forest golf alumni weren't the only Deacons in action at the tournament. During Wednesday's Pro-Am round at Sedgefield Country Club, Wake Forest basketball great Chris Paul competed with Tiger Woods.
The Wyndham Championship runs Thursday-Sunday in Greensboro. It is the final event to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs, which begin the following week.
