Allison Emrey Begins Professional Career

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest women's golfer Allison Emrey began her professional career on the SunCoast Ladies Tour. She is also competing in the first round of LPGA Qualifying School Tournament this week.
Emrey played in two SunCoast Ladies Tour events before beginning the first stage of Q-School. Emrey tied for 10th at the Mission Hills Tournament at the Mission Hills Country Club in California July 22-24. In the second Mission Hills event Emrey tied for the lead after three rounds and went in to a playoff with Bertine Strauss. She lost on the fourth hole but finish 7-under.
This week Emrey is competing at the Rancho Mirage Qualifier. It is the first of the LPGA Tour's three qualifying events in 2015. The top-100 players and ties from this week will advance to the second stage of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla., from Oct. 19-25. A minimum of the top 80 and ties from Stage II will advance into the Final Qualifying Tournament.
In her final season at Wake Forest, Emrey was a third team All-America selection by Golfweek and an honorable mention All-America honoree by the Women's Golf Coaches Association. Emrey broke Cheyenne Woods' scoring record with an average of 73.26 this season. Emrey led the team with six top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes. Emrey finished third at the ACC Championship with a 54-hole score of 208 which tied the lowest by any Demon Deacon at the ACC Tournament. She then placed fourth at the South Bend Regional, the highest for a Demon Deacon at an NCAA Regional since 2006 when Mandy Goins tied for third at the NCAA East Regional at Bryan Park.
