Wake Forest Tournament History
• This is Wake Forest's 12th appearance in the event
• Last year Wake Forest finished second at the event. Wake Forest was led by Allison Emrey who shot a one-over 73 to finish at one-under 215, good for third place overall behind medalist Taylor Totland of Furman. Totland finished at 7-under 209. Sierra Sims finished fourth in the field at even par 216 after a closing 77 on Tuesday.
• Wake Forest has won the event three times - 1994, 1996 and 1999.
• A Demon Deacon has finished in top-10 at the Lady Paladin 14 times including four runner-up finishes.
Wake Forest Notes
• Wake Forest opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C. Junior Sierra Sims tied for fifth to finish in the top five of the event for the second-consecutive season.
• Sophomore Erica Herr opened the season with a top-20 finish. She tied for 17th after posting rounds of 71-73-76.
• Sierra Sims returns for her junior season after she was named an All-American last year by Golfweek and the WGCA. Last season she led the team with a 73.09 stroke average, breaking the Wake Forest single-season record of 73.46 set by Cheyenne Woods in 2011 .
• Freshman Jennifer Kupcho advanced to the round of 16 at the U.S. Women's Amateur.
• In 2015 the Demon Deacons finished 13th at the NCAA Tournament and finished the year ranked No. 10 by Golfstat.com.
