PITTSBURGH -- Wake Forest women's soccer scored a late goal to send the game to overtime, but Pittsburgh tallied the game-winner in the final minute of the first overtime to win, 2-1, at Ambrose Urbanic Field on Thursday night.
Pitt's (8-1-1, 2-0 ACC) Taylor Price got behind the defense and her first attempt was saved by keeper Lindsay Preston 1v1, but the high-bouncing rebound went right back to Price's feet. This time, she finished far post past a defender and a diving Preston to wrap up the game.
Wake Forest (4-4-2, 1-1 ACC) knotted the game at 1-1 in the 83rd minute. A give-and-go pass from Sarah Medina found Katie Dry streaking down the left side, and she finished far post to the upper-90 from 25 yards.
The Panthers, who increased their winning streak to an ACC-best seven games, got on the board first in the 67th minute on Jarena Harmon's sixth goal, assisted by Roosa Arvas.
The Demon Deacons had a pair of opportunities to win the game in regulation after Dry's second goal of the year. In the 86th minute, Maddie Huster had a look from 10 yards, but the shot attempt missed just high.
Medina had a close-range shot in the final 30 seconds, but the attempt from six yards was deflected away by a defender at the last second.
Nonie Frishette made a pair of saves in a scoreless first half. Preston took over in the second half and finished with one save.
Wake Forest returns home on Sunday, playing host to No. 2-ranked North Carolina at 5 p.m.
