Giacco Leads Deacs at Panorama Farms

EARLYSVILLE, Va. -- The Wake Forest men's cross country team finished 12th Saturday morning at the Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Va. Alex Giacco had the top finish among Demon Deacon runners, placing 52nd in the 15-team, 123-runner race.
Giacco paced the Deacs with a 25:16 finish in the 8K race, while Evan Little and Craig Corti came in 59th and 65th, respectively, by finishing within 20 seconds of the team lead. Giacco, a junior Wilmington, Del. native, registered his team's top finisher for the first time this season.
Rounding out the scoring seven for Wake Forest were Nicholas Raefski in 82nd, Anthony Hughes in 83rd, Ryan Horgan in 86th and Sebastian Fischbach in 87th.
Host Virginia, which had three of the top 10 finishers, won the meet with Oklahoma and Furman completing the top three.
The Deacs will pick up competition next Saturday at the Princeton Inter-Regional in Princeton, N.J.
