Deacs Open Spring Season With Doubleheader

Deacs Open 2016 against North Florida, East Tennessee State
Wake Forest opens its 2016 spring season on Saturday with a doubleheader against No. 75 North Florida and East Tennessee State.
The match marks the first two of a five-match homestand that will stretch through next weekend in the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament.
Revisiting 2015
Under fourth-year head coach Tony Bresky, Wake Forest set a school record for most wins in a single season with 24.
The campaign included the program's third run to the Sweet 16 while going to the championship match of the ACC Tournament, falling 4-2 against Virginia.
During the regular season, the Deacs finished third in the ACC and earned a first-round bye in the ACC Tournament.
Looking Ahead at 2016
This season, Wake Forest will take on 14 programs that went to the 2015 NCAA Tournament, starting with East Tennessee State on opening weekend.
After going on the road at the end of January, Wake Forest will play 12 of its next 13 at home starting on Feb. 5 against South Carolina. After the stretch ending March 20, Wake Forest will play six of its last seven matches of the regular season on the road.
This year's ACC Championship will be played April 21-24 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., before the NCAA Championship starts May 13.
The first two rounds of the NCAA Championship will be played at campus sites before the tournament converges in Tulsa, Okla. on May 19.
Deacs in the Rankings
After a Sweet 16 run in 2015, the Demon Deacons start the season ranked No. 11, while three singles players and three doubles pairs also earned rankings.
Skander Mansouri leads a trio of Deacs in the singles rankings by checking in at No. 26. Jon Ho and Maksim Kan also earned rankings, as Ho earned No. 103 while Kan is No. 110.
On the doubles side, Mansouri and Christian Seraphim rank No. 25, while Kan and Romain Bogaerts are No. 27 in the nation. To go with his singles ranking, Ho pairs with Keivon Tabrizi to rank No. 51 in doubles.
New Faces to the Program
Wake Forest welcomes freshmen Eric Rutledge and Alan Gadjiev to the fold while adding a mid-year players Dennis Uspensky and Petros Chrysochos.
Rutledge and Gadjiev joined Wake Forest at the start of the school year. Both Uspensky and Chrysochos started at Wake Forest in 2016.

Next weekend, Wake Forest will close out its season-opening five-game homestand with the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest is one of 15 hosts for the weekend. Each host site has a pod of four teams. The team that wins two matches on the weekend will advance to the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va.
Coming to Wake Forest next weekend will be Auburn, Tennessee and Cal Poly. The Deacs will take on Auburn on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. with the winner moving on to Sunday's 4:30 p.m. matchup against the winner of the Tennessee/Cal Poly match. The loser of Wake Forest/Auburn will take on the loser of Tennessee/Cal Poly in the consolation match at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Additionally, Wake Forest will host The Citadel at 7:30 p.m. next Sunday in the final match of the homestand.
