Deacons Suffer First Loss at Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. - The 11th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision against No. 25 Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla. on Friday evening. The match was the Demon Deacons' first road contest of the 2015-16 season.
With the loss, the Deacons fell to 4-1 on the season with a 3-1 mark against ranked opponents.
The Cowboys got on the board first by claiming two close doubles matches. In the top flight, ninth-ranked Arjun Kadhe and Julian Cash edged No. 25 Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim, 6-4. OSU's Temur Ismailov and Lucas Gerch won by an identical score at the No. 2 position.
At No. 3, Romain Bogaerts and Dennis Uspensky were leading, 5-4, when their match was stopped.
In singles, Mansouri got Wake Forest on the board, quickly dispatching No. 68 Cash, 6-1, 6-4, to even the match. Jon Ho, playing at No. 4 for the first time in 2016 dual match action, then put the Deacs in front with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Gerch.
Ho upped his spring singles record to 4-0 with the victory.
With a 6-3, 6-2 win over Bogaerts at the third position, the No. 112-ranked Kadhe made the Deacs' lead short-lived. The Cowboys' Tristan Meraut then used a first-set rally to spark a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Uspensky at No. 5, handing the Deacon freshman his first collegiate singles loss in five matches.
Seraphim forced a third set at No. 6 after falling in his first set, 6-4, but was edged by fellow German sophomore Lukas Finzelberg of Oklahoma State in the final frame. Finzelberg's win clinched the match for the hosts.
Chrysochos had his match cut short in the third set at the No. 1 spot.
The Demon Deacons wrap up the weekend with a trip to No. 2 Oklahoma on Sunday. First serve is schedule for 1 p.m. ET. The match will air live on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports Central. Before heading to the ITA National Indoor Championships on Feb. 12-15, the Deacs will host South Carolina and visit Tennessee.
