WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest Cross Country team heads to Terre Haute, Ind., this weekend for the Pre-National Invitational, hosted by Indiana State. The meet, held Saturday, October 15, serves as the final tune-up for the Demon Deacons before they run at the ACC Championship on October 28.
A total of 63 men's teams and 70 women's teams will be in attendance, with 16 nationally ranked teams (8 men's / 8 women's) competing on Saturday. The Wake Forest women will run at 12:15 p.m. in the women's 6k while the men will toe the line in the 8k at 12:50 p.m.
Saturday's race will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course which is located a few miles outside of Terre Haute. The NCAA awarded the site the 2002 Division I Men's and Women's National Championship, the first of 11 such honors for Indiana State and LaVern Gibson. The course went on to host the NCAA Championship eight straight years (2004-2011) and then again in 2013 and 2014. This year, the course is once again the host site for the NCAA Championship, marking the 12th time the course will have hosted the NCAA Championship.
