WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest downed No. 25 Boston College 2-0 behind two late goals in front of 1,125 fans on Saturday night at Spry Stadium.

The Demon Deacons (9-6-0, 1-6-0 ACC) broke a scoreless tie with the Eagles (10-5-1, 2-5-0 ACC) in the 78th minute by a goal from Caroline Wooten. Reci Smith sealed the win with another goal a little over five minutes later.

Lindsay Preston made two saves in the win for Wake Forest who snapped a six-game losing streak. It is also the first win for Wake Forest this season over a ranked opponent.

After a scoreless first half, the Deacons finally broke through when Wooten tallied the game-winner off a cross from Kahla Seymour. Just five minutes and 27 seconds later, Reci Smith scored her first collegiate goal on a corner kick from Maddie Huster. Boston College's best chance came in the 57th minute when Hayley Dowd shot point blank on a quick break but was saved by Preston.

Senior Sarah Teegarden was honored pre-game as part of the Senior Game festivities.

Wake Forest is back in action again on Thursday when the Deacons host Syracuse at Spry Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
