Deacs Travel to SEC Foe LSU
• With a 1-0 record in tow after an opening night victory, Wake Forest is set to take on LSU inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game will air on SEC Network +.
• The Demon Deacons and Tigers have met twice before with each side winning once. LSU won the first matchup in 1999, but Wake Forest earned the victory to open the 2015-16 season at LJVM Coliseum by the final of 60-57 on Nov. 13.
Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest was picked to finish 11th in the ACC preseason poll by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league's head coaches.
• A season ago, the Demon Deacons were picked 14th in the conference and ended up finishing tied for ninth at season's end. Throughout the campaign, Wake Forest went 17-16 while posting a 6-10 record against ACC opponents.
• Making an appearance in the WNIT, Wake Forest broke a stretch of three-straight seasons without a trip to the postseason. Wake Forest went to the WNIT in 2012 but had not been in a postseason tournament under Hoover until last season. In the tournament, Wake Forest took down Charlotte 72-69 on the road before falling to tournament runner-up Florida Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers, 67-48.
Scouting the Tigers
• LSU opened the 2016-17 season with a four-point win on the road at Louisiana Tech. Three players scored in double figures in the win, led by Chloe Jackson's team-high 19 points. Raigyne Moncrief and Alexis Hyder both chipped in 15 points in the victory.
• A season ago, LSU went 10-21 and just 3-13 in SEC play. At home, the Tigers posted a 6-7 record while going 2-11 away from Baton Rouge. LSU reached the second round of the SEC Tournament after beating Alabama, but fell to No. 13 Kentucky 79-71.
Next Time Out
• Wake Forest will return home to LJVM Coliseum on Thursday, Nov. 17, for a 7 p.m. game against Rutgers.
• The game marks the start of a three-game homestand for the Demon Deacons, who will also welcome Eastern Michigan on Nov. 20 and Furman on Nov. 23.
• Like this season, Wake Forest opened the 2015-16 season with four of its first five games at home and posted a 4-1 record with the lone loss on the road at Missouri.
