Wake Forest Opens Three-Game Homestand Thursday
• Wake Forest is set to open a three-game homestand on Thursday, Nov. 17, when it welcomes Big Ten foe Rutgers to LJVM Coliseum for a 7 p.m. tip.
• Thursday's matchup marks the first between the two programs.
Last Time Out
• On the road at LSU, Wake Forest fought the Tigers back and forth but came away on the wrong end of a 60-57 final score. Amber Campbell led Wake Forest for the second game in a row with 16 points while Alex Sharp tallied 12 in just her second game as a Demon Deacon.
Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest was picked to finish 11th in the ACC preseason poll by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league's head coaches.
• A season ago, the Demon Deacons were picked 14th in the conference and ended up finishing tied for ninth at season's end. Throughout the campaign, Wake Forest went 17-16 while posting a 6-10 record against ACC opponents.
• Making an appearance in the WNIT, Wake Forest broke a stretch of three-straight seasons without a trip to the postseason. Wake Forest went to the WNIT in 2012 but had not been in a postseason tournament under Hoover until last season. In the tournament, Wake Forest took down Charlotte 72-69 on the road before falling to tournament runner-up Florida Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers, 67-48.
Scouting the Scarlet Knights
• Rutgers has struggled over the course of its first two games in falling 66-53 at home against Chattanooga on Nov. 11 and falling 66-54 on the road Monday night at Elon.
• Shrita Parker is RU's leading scorer thus far with 12.5 points per game. The Scarlet Knights have shot 34.8 percent from the floor. The second quarter has been a problem thus far for Rutgers, as opponents have outscored the Scarlet Knights 33-17 in the frame.
Next Step for Quinn?
• Milan Quinn took great strides forward as a junior in 2015-16 in recording 10.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. With her final rebounding total, she finished as the second-leading rebounder in the ACC behind Duke's Azura Stevens and is the leading returning rebounder after Stevens transferred to Connecticut.
• Throughout the season, Quinn recorded the first 11 double-doubles of her career. Down the stretch, the junior from Charlotte, N.C., had three in the team's final four games against Clemson, Georgia Tech and Florida Gulf Coast. Her 11 double-doubles on the year stood as the second-most in the conference.
• In her first game of 2016-17, Quinn recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds vs. Navy but struggled in the loss at LSU with just four points and two rebounds.
Next Time Out
• Continuing its homestand, Wake Forest will welcome 2016 WNIT participant Eastern Michigan to LJVM Coliseum on Sunday, Nov. 20, for a 2 p.m. tip against the Eagles.
• The homestand will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, against Furman.
