Wake Forest Looks to Extend Streak to Six
• The Demon Deacons will look to win a sixth-straight game for the first time since the start of the 2009-10 season on Sunday when it meets Seton Hall in New Jersey at 2 p.m. on Pirate Sports Network.
• The Deacs and Pirates have met three times prior to Sunday with Wake Forest holding a 2-1 lead over Seton Hall. The Demon Deacons have won the last two matchups in 2011 and 2012 after SHU won the first meeting in 1990.
Last Time Out
• In the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Wake Forest weathered an early Illinois storm and recovered nicely to earn a 79-70 win at Illinois on Wednesday night.
• Ariel Stephenson notched her second-straight 20-plus point game with a career high-tying 22 points to lead the Deacs. Amber Campbell finished with a season-best 21 points while Elisa Penna chipped in 15 points. Milan Quinn picked up her third double-double in four games with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
• The win was one of nine by the ACC in clinching the Challenge victory 9-5, moving to 7-0-3 in 10 ACC/Big Ten Challenges to date.
Scouting the Pirates
• Seton Hall holds a 4-3 record entering Sunday's game. The Pirates have lost two in a row, falling last time out at Princeton 94-67 and at home against UT Arlington, 86-61.
• In victories this season, Seton Hall has allowed 64.8 points per game. In losses, though, opponents are averaging 90 points per contest.
• Four players are averaging in double-figures for the Pirates with JaQuan Jackson leading the team at 16.5 per game. On the glass, LaTecia Smith leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game while also adding 11.3 points per contest.
• SHU is 3-1 at home this year, topping Savannah State (74-60), Boston College (71-66) and Central Connecticut (78-70) while falling to UT Arlington.
Finding the Touch
• Through seven games this season, Wake Forest is shooting 44.1 percent. The number is good for sixth-best in the conference just behind Miami at 45.0 and in front of Pittsburgh at 42.7 percent.
• A season ago, Wake Forest shot 39.0 percent and was better than 50 percent once in 33 games. While shooting 53.2 percent in the ACC Tournament against Georgia Tech, Wake Forest's next best shooting night was 46.9 percent at Pitt.
• Already this year, Wake Forest has shot 54.1 percent against Navy, 50.9 percent at Elon, 50 percent against Eastern Michigan and 47.1 percent at LSU.
• At Elon on Nov. 26, Wake Forest shot 81.8 percent with 28 points in the final quarter to defeat Elon 78-68. The percentage is the best all-time for the Deacs in a quarter and the 28 points is the second-most in a quarter. The Deacs scored 32 points in the third quarter against Eastern Mich. on Nov. 20.
Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest was picked to finish 11th this year in the ACC preseason poll by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league's head coaches.
• The Demon Deacons are currently on their first five-game winning streak since the 2013-14 season when Wake Forest defeated Belmont, UNCW, South Alabama, Florida A&M and FIU in December 2013.
• Last time Wake Forest won six games in a row came during the 2009-10 season in the first six games of the year before falling to Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The run included wins over Jacksonville, South Florida, Miami (Ohio), Coppin State, High Point and Presbyterian.
• The 6-1 start is tied for the best start to a season under head coach Jen Hoover. The Deacs duplicated the 6-1 record to start the 2014-15 season, but proceeded to drop its next three matchups after the stellar start.
Next Time Out
• With the three-game road swing in the books, Wake Forest will come home for its next four games starting Dec. 8 against Xavier at 7 p.m.
• The season-long homestand will also include matchups against Radford (Dec. 10), Samford (Dec. 18) and School Day at 11 a.m. against VCU (Dec. 21).
• After that, the Deacs will close nonconference play Dec. 31 at James Madison.
