Deacs Begin 11-Match Homestand
• Following a week away from dual-match competition, No. 5 Wake Forest will begin an 11-match homestand by hosting No. 26 Texas, No. 6 Texas Tech and Norfolk State this weekend.
• The Demon Deacons will take on the Longhorns Saturday at 1 p.m. and will play a doubleheader Sunday, playing the Red Raiders at 11 a.m. and the Spartans at 5 p.m.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest went 2-1 in its first-ever appearance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 12-14 in Charlottesville, Va.
• The Deacons knocked off the tournament's defending champion, Oklahoma, in the first round by a score of 4-1 before falling to host and top-ranked Virginia, 4-3, in the quarterfinal round. They then blanked No. 6 Southern California, 4-0, in consolation play.
• The Deacs won the doubles competition in all three matches and had 3-0 showings in singles from Petros Chrysochos and Romain Bogaerts at Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.
Moving Up
• After a 9-2 start that includes an 8-2 record against ranked opponents and three victories over teams ranked sixth or higher, the Deacons have earned their highest ranking in program history at No. 5.
• Prior to this season, the highest Wake Forest had been ranked was No. 7 in 2007, when the team went 23-7 and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament. That year also marked the last time the Deacs were in the top 10.
• Wake Forest began the season with its highest preseason ranking in program history at No. 11 after making its third Sweet 16 appearance a year ago.
Serve it Up for the JDRF
• The Deacs are inviting fans to Serve It Up for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on Sunday morning. The Demon Deacons will host a free clinic from 8-9:30 a.m. prior to their first match of the day against Texas Tech.
• Fans in attendance will be encouraged to participate in a fun donation back to JDRF, in which a dollar amount is given per Wake Forest team point in the match against the Red Raiders.
Deacs in the Rankings
• In singles, Skander Mansouri leads a trio of nationally-ranked Deacons by checking in at No. 25. Petros Chrysochos and Romain Bogaerts are ranked No. 34 and No. 113, respectively. Combined, they are 23-4 on the spring with nine wins over ranked foes.
• On the doubles side, Mansouri and Christian Seraphim rank No. 21, while Bogaerts and Maksim Kan are No. 28 in the nation. Bogaerts and Kan have not played together in the spring, but Mansouri and Seraphim have played at No. 1 in all 11 of the team's matches, going 6-5 with three victories against ranked pairings.
Up Next
• The Demon Deacons will open ACC play next Friday against Georgia Tech before playing a doubleheader on Sunday against NC State and Tennessee Tech.
• The team's season-long, 11-match homestand will be closed out with matches against Boston College, Notre Dame, Morehead State, Clemson and South Carolina State.
