Deacs Finish First Day at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams combined for eight top-10 finishes on the first day of competition at the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track in Raleigh, N.C.
The meet will conclude on Saturday with events beginning at 10 a.m.
On the men's side, Max Adams placed fifth in the men's discus with a 50.65m toss. He also took seventh place in the shot put with a mark of 16.06m. Just behind Adams in the shot put in ninth place was teammate Tylor Harris, who had a throw of 15.95m.
The Demon Deacon women also had success in field events, with Casidy Callahan posting the third-best discus mark of her career. Her 47.94m toss was good for fourth place. Alva Hicks came in ninth in the event in her collegiate outdoor debut.
Amy Collins was two inches shy of her career-best high jump, placing fourth with a height of 1.65m.
On the women's track side, Hunter Roberts qualified for Saturday's 100m hurdles final by placing eighth in the prelims on Friday, clocking in at 13.90 seconds.
After winning the 800m at the Wake Forest Open last week, Kathryn Lazarchick came in 11th in a field of 108 in the 1,500m in her second meet of the outdoor campaign with a time of 4:28.86.
Following this weekend, the Deacs will resume action by sending representatives to the High Point VertKlasse Meeting and the Florida Relays next week.
