NORWALK, Calif. – Wake Forest men's track and field junior Charlie Ionata posted a ninth-place showing in the men's hammer throw invitational at the 58th Annual Mt. SAC Relays at Cerritos College Falcon Stadium in Norwalk, Calif. on Thursday.
Ionata registered a toss of 59.34m. The Barrington, R.I. native was coming off three top-four finishes in the event to start the outdoor season, including a first-place, school-record throw of 65.15m at the Wake Forest Open at Kentner Stadium in March.
The Mt. SAC Relays continue Friday and Saturday. A group of 41 Demon Deacons will head to the Campbell Invitational at Irwin Belk Track in Buies Creek, N.C., which also takes place over the next two days.
The Demon Deacons will send student-athletes to two meets again next week. Wake Forest will compete at both the Virginia Challenge and the Elon Phoenix Invitational.
